Reflecting on coronavirus is a pastime for many people. Now the government have dedicated a day to it. What is the National Day of Reflection? March 23rd is a National Day of Reflection on the Pandemic for the bereaved, for the victims, and I hope, for those who sacrificed months of their lives. I was … Continue reading “Reflecting on a Pandemic from the front line”

AND BE GLAD THAT YOU DID The phone message was full of foul language and vile sentiments…and I sent it to my boss! It was possibly one of the best things I have ever done. A common enough mistake Chances are, most of us have done something like this – written a few snide comments … Continue reading “How To Offend Everyone At Work With A Phone Message”
We didn’t ask to be heroes! This is a rant from someone who was on the front line during 2020 – not the NHS front line but the disposable, underrated Care Home front line. There were many stories of “cruelty” in Care Homes during the pandemic. Cruelty?? Things were overlooked and standards dropped at times … Continue reading “We Didn’t Ask To Be Heroes -Care Home Staff”
I decided to write a test post – test posts and test pages are important Posts and pages are very confusing if you are not entirely sure what the differences are. I need to publish this so that I can see where it posts to. Ah…I yearn for the days when pen and paper sufficed. … Continue reading “This is a test post”
Having spent time sitting contemplating the sheer magnificence of mountains, I was left wondering what it is about them that draws mankind towards them in worship. Why do we feel the need to draw and paint them, to write poetry and songs proclaiming their beauty and awe-filled majesty. Why do we struggle up the … Continue reading “Mountain high”
It feels like a piece of me is lostThough the picture is fine on the box;But when someone cares enough to put me togetherThey’ll see a piece of me is lost forever. Then every time they look at meThe missing piece is all they’ll see

Writing lines that will never be read, Words tumbling and jostling around in my head, A lyric named “what I wish I had said – but I didn’t.” Hearing a song that no one will sing, That elusive tune only silence can bring, Wishing I’d sung it like a bird on the wing – but I … Continue reading “I didn’t… ?”
Parys Mountain in Anglesey, Wales. The remains of a mountain whose innards contained minerals and metals mankind wanted. Her inner beauty lies exposed to the elements. Overly romantic? Yeah, I know! What can I tell you…I’m a poet! She stood, proud against the sea blown gales, her heart forged in the melting pot of a … Continue reading “Parys Mountain”
Hi Trudi,
I love both your sites so hope you don’t think I’m being too critical. It’s just an observation here from one SBIer to another. I find the blue writing quite difficult to read on the grey blue background so one can’t easily see what the topic is until you hover over it. People could miss an interesting topic because it doesn’t stand out when one glances down the page. Hope you can delete this post. It’s not necessary to keep it.
hello Sylvia…thank you so much for a comment which is about the site rather than CBD oil or selling me something.
On checking, you are quite correct and I realise that my strict colour scheme was aesthetically pleasing to me, but impractical. I have altered it.
Through-the-glass was started long before we had heard of SBI! – it is naive and built by someone who has little idea about how such things work. ME!
I was simply desperate to have my own voice!
Having seen SBI! for the Hobos site, I became more aware of what could/should be done. I altered TTG and created wholelifepoetry.com to again allow for my voice to be heard without Gav’s editing.
Mainly we use Through-the-glass for experiments now – the latest being changing the home page from a the blog page to a static and creating a new posts page. We wanted a blog for motorhomehobos.com but dare not risk changes to what is our main site. Through-the-glass almost acts as a child-theme for people who hardly know what that is!
Now it will encourage me to check colour schemes – thank you.
